Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Lumped Raman amplification is one of the key technologies for the optical band expansion of the WDM transmission systems. The amplifiers with high powers or high gains may remarkably degrade the transmission performance of the WDM signals due to Brillouin scattering occurred in the amplifiers. In this paper, we show that phase modulation can suppress the Brillouin scattering occurred in lumped Raman amplifiers, and report a 40Gb/s-based repeaterless WDM transmission experiment with high power lumped Raman amplifiers (8x42.7Gb/s, DSF 50km) and a 40Gb/s-based in-line repeated WDM transmission experiment with lumped Raman in-line amplifiers (90x42.7Gb/s, NZDSF 80kmx3spans).
