Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Influence of dispersion shifts of transmission line on the performance of single-channel 160Gb/s quasi-linear transmission and densely dispersion-managed soliton (DDMS) transmission is numerically studied in detail. DDMS transmission shows better performance than quasi-linear transmission when the transmission-line dispersion can be precisely controlled. When the dispersion is deviated from the design values, however, the performance of DDMS transmission is degraded severely caused by the pulse-to-pulse nonlinear interaction (IXPM : intrachannel cross-phase modulation), which can not be compensated at the receiver. We have shown that the problem in the DDMS transmission can be alleviated by inserting synchronized amplitude modulators in the transmission line.
