Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In this paper, we report the field trial results of an optical 3R regenerator that we have successfully demonstrated using 40-Gbit/s transmission systems over a 400-km-long installed cable. In the application of the optical 3R regenerator in the field environment, the fluctuation of the state of polarization (SOP) in an installed cable causes the receiver sensitivity instability when a semiconductor-based monolithic mode-locked laser diode (ML-LD) is used as a clock recovery element since the ML-LD is polarization sensitive. In this work, we have achieved the stable optical injection-locking operation by the application of a newly developed SOP control system in the optical 3R regenerator.
