Abstract(in English) Receiver linearity of OTDR is investigated experimentally. As a result, it is shown that the OTDR linearity should be compensated for its use of accurate measurement based on the backscattered signal. Then, we propose a new technique for measuring the longitudinal distribution along a fiber by using the unidirectional OTDR. It is clarified that the MFD and chromatic dispersion distributions along a fiber and the transmission line composed of two different kinds of fiber are successfully measured by our present method. Our simple method will be very useful for the maintenance and upgradeability of the systems.
