Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Rechargeable lithium battery systems with various kinds of voltages suitable for selected applications are adopted into coin-type cells. Each battery system has the required features such as capacities, self-discharge rates, charge/discharge characteristics, etc. to be used as power sources for memory backup in computers, digital camera, camcorder and portable cellular phones including PHS. In this report, principles, structures, applications, features and specifications of rechargeable lithium battery systems containing manganese dioxide, lithium titanium oxide or niobium oxide are presented. At the same time, rechargeable lithium batteries for reflow soldering, which are typical coin-type rechargeable lithium batteries used for consumer portable devices, are reviewed. The future prospects of these coin-type cells are described.
