| 抄録(英) | A method for recognizing circular road signs independent of their size and inclination and robust to occlusion is investigated in this paper. Circular road signs in a visual scene are detected according to their color information, and the color pixels are projected marginally into vertical and horizontal axes; each road sign is separated individually on the basis of the marginal distribution of the color pixels. For eliminating the effect of occlusion caused by other obstacles, the convex hull of each road sign is constructed by using the Radon transform. Conic parameters fitted to the peripheral edge points surrounding the convex hull enables us to determine the size and the inclination of the corresponding road sign. Uncertainty in the inclination for reconstructing a circle from the conic parameters can be avoided by adopting space-variant transform such as log-polar mapping. The experimental results on real image scenes are presented to demonstrate the usefulness of our approach. |
