Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) We propose a method for determining shape and reflectance of planar object by combining the shape from shading (SFS) and shape from motion (SFM) strategies. Although most of the conventional SFM methods assumed that image intensity is invariant before and after object's 3D motion, this assumption is not satisfied in general scene. On the other hand, Maki et al. [1] proposed a method which models the variation of intensity due to the motion from a viewpoint of stereo method. Similarly, Mukawa [2] proposed a method from a viewpoint of optical flow detection. However, these methods did not use an information of motion and shading appropriately. Information of shape and motion can be obtained from gradient equation. And information of shape and reflectance can be obtained from image irradiance equation. This means that SFS and SFM formulations include the information of shape mutually. In this paper, we aim for determining the shape using both constraints synthetically.
