Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) We will report about improvement of chromatic dispersion characteristics and nonlinearity of highly-nonlinear fibers for the broadband wavelength conversion based on four-wave-mixing, efficient wavelength conversion and supercontinuum generation, respectively. In the broadband wavelength conversion, the 4^-order dispersion is improved to about one-order magnitude compared to a conventional HNLF, and ultra broad conversion bandwidth of 220nm is realized. For improvement of FWM conversion efficiency, the nonlinear coefficient of γ in HNLF is improved to a record-breaking 30/W/km, and the HNLF has twice as much conversion efficiency as a fiber with γ=20/W/km. Supercontinuum generation is also demonstrated and the fiber suitable for it will be also discussed.
