Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In order to make truly-intelligent robots, an approach that clarifies the information processing mechanisms in the brain and applies the obtained results to engineering is necessary. Since the brain is a system operating in massively parallel and dynamically unlike the present digital computers, brain-like hardware (LSI) realization is important. We call such an approach Brain Information Technology, and our department promotes a project to establish the technology. As an achievement of this project, this paper describes a Gabor-filtering LSI and a convolutional neural network LSI using a merged analog-digital circuit approach for brain-like vision systems. An anisotropic diffusion algorithm for subjective contour generation is also described, whose LSI implementation is in progress.
