Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In ubiquitous networks based on the Wireless Local Area Networks (WLANs), mobile nodes (MNs) will traverse many different WLANs during TCP communication. Thus, in order to avoid the performance degradation during the handover, it is necessary to be satisfied the following three requirements, (1) Appropriate detection of the degradation in the wireless link communication quality, (2) Reduction of handover processing periods, (3) Selection of the WLAN with good condition. In this paper, to maintain the TCP goodput performance during handover, we propose a handover management mechanism, which satisfies these requirements, based on the number of frame retransmissions. Through simulation experiments, we demonstrate that the proposed scheme can maintain the TCP performance during the handover.
