New Generation Mobile Network and Next Generation Network

Abstract(in English) Trends on research and development of technologies for beyond 3G or 4G in China, Korea, Europe, US, and Japan are given. The organization of R&D project for new generation mobile networks in Japan is introduced. Then, "Metro Mobile Ring" network for large-scale, fast-handover-enabled network for metropolitan areas is introduced as one research issue in NICT. Then, fixed-mobile convergence that has been drawing much attention and discussion about seamless networking in 3GPP and IEEE802 are presented. Context-aware seamless networking between networks and devices is then introduced. Lastly, the scope, future discussion points and Release 1 of Next Generation Network that has been discussed at ITU-T are given, and Next Generation IP Network Promotion Forum that was established in December 2005 is also introduced.
