Abstract(in English) | When a massive disaster occurs, communication demands increase suddenly and greatly because people want to check on their families and friends in the stricken area. Mobile phones are very useful communication tools for these situations because of their portability. However, increasing the capacity of mobile systems is difficult due to limited radio-frequency resources. Therefore, we propose the lower limit of voice quality call admission control (LLQCAC) for mobile IP telephone systems using W-CDMA systems, which will be widespread in the future. This control will increase the number of admitted calls in order to surpass the system capacity by decreasing voice quality to a lower limit for conversation. Furthermore, we propose the reduction control of forced call termination (RCFCT) to combat the increase in the number of forced call terminations by using the LLQCAC. This will adjust the threshold of the decision for forced call termination properly. We evaluated the basic characteristics of the LLQCAC and the RCFCT through computer simulations. The call blocking rate was much reduced by admitting calls at the lowest limit of voice quality, and forced call termination was reduced by increases in the number of continuous packet loss allowed, which is the threshold of the decision for forced call termination. |
