Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In massively multi player online games (MMOGs), the number of players can be up to several hundred thousands. Instead of preparing high performance but expensive servers/networks, the P2P technology is likely deployed. When P2P is used, however, user terminals process game data such as game states or user states. So, some malicious users may alter the game data for their benefits. In this paper, we propose a cheat detection method for P2P based network games. Main characteristics of our proposed method are : (i) it does not need any centralized server, (ii) it can keep load of user terminals as well as event delivery delay reasonably small, (iii) it can prevent inconsistent game states by cheats from propagating to other players and (iv) it can adapt to node failure/leaving. We analyzed traffic amount required for the proposed cheat detection mechanism.
