Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Many localization methods have been investigated to realize location-based services in wide indoor environments. The localization methods usually employ a hybrid approach in which user's position is estimated by using infrastructures and a pedometer. However, the installation cost of infrastructures increases when the area expands, and the error of the pedometer is frequently caused by failure in locomotion detection. This paper proposes a method for estimating the relative movement of user by measuring user's orientation and geometrical relationship between user's shin and waist with an inertial sensor and an electromagnetic tracker that are attached to user's body. The proposed localization method is experimented by using a prototype system to evaluate the accuracy of the method.
