Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) We conducted an experiment using an Eye-Tracking-System in order to find out the difficulties incurred in reading Japanese by 5 groups of foreigner(s) and a group of Japanese native speaker(s). Concerning to forward reading and backward reading, Middle-area and Non-Kanji-area groups jump to forward 1-2 characters at a time and Kanji-area group jumps 3-4 characters. Japanese-native-speakers have a tendency to use forward and backward jumping more frequently than the other groups.
