Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Leakage losses in a quasi-phase-matched second-harmonic-generation device based on a ridge-type MgO:LiNbO_3/LiNbO_3 waveguide with air gap, which is expected to be a highly efficient, low-loss wavelength converter, are theoretically estimated. Using a full-vector finite element method, the influence of the distance between MgO:LiNbO_3 surface and air gap, and the air-gap width and depth on the leakage losses is investigated in details. It is found that the leakage losses of modes associated with the wavelength conversion are not reduced with increasing air-gap depth. The mechanism of this phenomenon is clarified and a method for further reduction of the leakage losses is discribed.
