Third Order Non-linear Electro-optic Effect of C-S-Au Film

Abstract(in English) 1.7×10^<-8> esu as third order susceptibility (χ^<(3)>) was measured on the C-Au-S film formed by cooperation process of plasma CVD and sputtering, which was measured by the Maker fringe method using a pulsed Nd YAG laser. The film was prepared by using plasma CVD reactor with a disk type parallel plate discharge electrodes. An Au plate was set on the graphite upper electrode for the sputtering and glass and Si wafer substrates were placed on the lower electrode grounded through the reaction chamber. The molecules of carbon-sulfur-gold (C-S-Au) are expected to be dispersed in the amorphous carbon film.
