Abstract(in English) We demonstrate a new method for fabricating the micro-patterned two-dimensional (2-D) colloidal crystals as the photonic crystal slabs onto the film of an azobenzene-containing polymer. Two photo-responsive properties of the azopolymer film, i.e., photo-induced deformation of the film surface and photo-immobilization of the small objects on the film, are utilized to create the method. First, an intended template with a 2-D periodic pattern was formed by exposing the interference pattern twice onto the film surface. Colloidal particles were then deposited onto the template by dip-coating and consequently arranged in the square or hexagonal packing. Next, area-selective immobilization of the particles onto the azopolymer surface was performed by selective irradiation of laser beam. After removing the non-immobilized particles through lift-off process, the micro-patterned structures consisting of the 2-D colloidal crystals were finally observed.
