| 抄録(和) | 表情の認知過程の研究には2つの対立する立場がある。1つはCategorical Approachであり、もう1つはContinuous (Dimensional) Approachである。本実験ではEtcoffらに代表されるCategotical Perceptionの実験を追試するとともに、それらが意味空間上でどのように処理されるかを検討した。刺激系列には、実画像をモーフィングした喜びと驚き、悲しみと喜び、怒りと喜びの3系列を用いた、実験の結果、カテゴリーの影響は、物理的刺激空間においてよりも、SD法によって測定された意味空間においてより顕著に見られた。この事は意味空間上でのカテゴリーの影響の重要性を示している。 |
| 抄録(英) | It is a funfamental question wheter facial expressions are perceived categorically or processed on the continuous dimensions. We investigated this issue using three sets of morphed photographic facial images (happiness to anger, surprise, or sadness), generated by computers. Our interest was in whether the experimental data of categorical perception could be explained by continuous dimensions. In first experiment, Subjects discriminated pairs of faces and categorized the emotion shown by each.. In second experiment, subjects rated the expressions stimuli using a semantic differential. We examined the relationship between discrimination accuracy and semantic distance, defined as the Euclidean distance between pairs of stimuli in the factor space. The effect of the category was well explained by using semantic distance. |
