Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) This paper describes the estimation of the cross sectional area of 2-D vocal tract from sound intensity and sound pressure contours obtained by finite element method. The cross sectional area of 2-D vocal tract is estimated as follows: (1) Barycentric coordinates of the real part of sound intensity at 0, 45 and 90 degrees directions are calculated at near the first formant frequency. Lines connected these coordinates are defined as a sound propagation path. (2) The sound pressure contours and the barycentric coordinates of the real part of sound intensity are superimposed. (3) The cross sectional area is calculated as one enclosed with the vocal tract wall and the sound pressure contours in every about 9mm along the sound propagation path. Estimated errors at first and second formant frequencies are about 3%.
