Abstract(in Japanese) | (See Japanese page) |
Abstract(in English) | Space division multiple access (SDMA) is a multiple access schemes for mobile communications that multiple users share the same frequency simultaneously, in the same area. The SDMA also supports any protocols, if a base station (BS) can steer multibeam. As a result, it allows several times more users to be accommodated compared to existing systems. We developed the SDMA BS for the Personal Handy phone Systems. (PHS). We carried out several tests to evaluate the BS when three PSs access the BS by the SDMA. The results of indoor measurement showed that the BS has sufficient intereference suppression performance. Also, the antenna pattern measured in anechoic chamber showed that the BS can steer the multibeam correctly. Moreover, the results of field test showed that the traffic capacity was 2.4 times greater than the existing systems. Therefore, it was confirmed that the SDMA-PHS BS achieves substantial improvement in spectrum efficiency. |
