Abstract(in English)	This paper proposes a new 3-step cell search algorithm employing common pilot channel (CPICH) for broadband OFCDM (Orthogonal Frequency and Code Division Multiplexing) packet wireless access. In the proposed cell search method, OFCDM symbol timing, i.e., FFT window timing is first detected using correlation property of guard interval in the 1^ step. Then, the frame timing detection and scrambling code identification are performed in the 2^ step employing CPICH, in which the length of the scrambling code is the same as the number of sub-carriers and the phase of it is cyclically shifted every OFCDM symbol. Finally, cell-specific scrambling code is identified using CPICH. The simulation results elucidate that the proposed cell search method achieves the faster cell search time (the cell search time at the cumulative distribution of 95 % is approximately 1.7 msec) compared to the method with synchronization channel (SCH) in the 2^ step from slow-to-fast fading channel when the transmission power ratio of CPICH to traffic channel is larger than 9dB.
