Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Novel electrooptic SSB modulators using domain-inverted structure were proposed. Adopting the periodically domain-inverted structure to traveling-wave electrooptic modulators, not only quasi-velocity-matching in high frequency operation but also the control of the modulation phase were obtained, which led to the SSB modulation/optical frequency shifting by the Hartley method with simple optical and electrical circuits. The design, the fabrication by use of z-cut LiTaO_3, and the experimental demonstration at the operation frequency around 15GHz were presented.
