| Abstract(in English) | A tutorial on noise suppressor standardization for cellular phones is presented. The background and the history of standardization are explained and an overview of the 3GPP (ETSI) noise suppressor standard follows. The 3GPP standard on noise suppression does not define the algorithm itself. Rather, the enhanced speech quality and the performance the noise suppressor shall conforms to are defined from viewpoints of subjective and objective evaluations. Finally, some promising algorithms, some of which were used as reference noise suppressors in the 3GPP standardization, are briefly explained. |
