Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) It has been well accepted that emotion is processed differently by each brain hemisphere. A number of studies reported these brain asymmetries of emotion perception in a single modality (Vision/Auditory), but it was quite few studies to examine them in multisensory modalities. To explore this issure, we conducted the experiments under the multisensory condition, in addition to a single modality condition. In the multisensory condition the stimuli from vision and auditory were presented respectively by a tachistoscopic technique and a dichotic listening technique. A subjects' task was to discriminate the facial expressions, while ignoring the auditory stimuli. We found the right hemisphere superiority in both happy and fear, only when the same emotional information from faces and voices were presented. These results suggest that the right hemisphere dominate on the bimodal emotion percpeption.
