Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Haptic force-feedback devices are developed actively, and haptic media will be in widespread use. The haptic media is very sensitive to the network delay and its jitter. In this report, we evaluated the effect of feed-back delay on force perception using psychophysical method and show that the delay of feed-back reduces the subjective impression of viscousness. We also propose a model that explains the variability of perception of represented force. In addition, we measured the stimulus threshold of feedback delay in perception of viscousness.
