Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Many of distributed measurement and control applications are enhanced by having an accurate time; microsecond to sub-microsecond. Queueing delays in packet-switched network, which LAN uses, deteriorate accuracy of time synchronization. This article presents a new time synchronization algorithm to improve the accuracy under queueing delays. It is based on packet arrival intervals (PAI) of synchronizing packet which are broadcasted at constant rate. An average of the intervals are hardly affected by queueing delays. Clock rate and the average are identical. Network delay can be calculated, because components of LAN can be known. From experimental result, our approach achieved microsecond accuracy under existence of 80% cross traffic. This algorithm does not need machine power, so it is suitable for low-end devices such as nodes of sensor-net.
