Abstract(in English) | AgPd40wt% contacts mounted on relays were tested in DC42V-6A or DC42V-4.2A resistive circuit as make-only contacts and break-only contacts. In this experiment, we took photographs of the contacts from and measured number of bounce Bc, arc durations Dc, and contact resistance Rc. In all samples used as make-only contacts, minute granular asperity area was formed each on the cathode and on the anode, and no remarkable pip was formed on contact surface. There was a tendency on make-only contacts that Dc gradually reduced and Rc remained constant as number of operations Op increased. Sticking didn't occur. In samples used as break-only contacts, the areas of colors and shapes on contacts surface, Bc, Dc, and Rc were different by the difference of the current value. We consider the results are caused by that Dc on break-only contacts extended greatly for samples in DC42V-6A resistive circuit compared with samples in DC42V-4.2A resistive circuit. We suspect the reason as follows : there might be a boundary that the metallic phase arc shifted to the gas phase arc when the current was within range of 4.2-6A for AgPd40wt% break-only contacts in DC42V resistive circuit. |
