Abstract(in English) | A new idea is proposed to explain arc duration at a break contact, in order to overcome insufficient points of the conventional idea. The new idea is different from the conventional one by two points. The first is that it is based on the arc V-I characteristics which includes those of unstable arc; and the second is that it regards the arc extinction as a probabilistic phenomenon caused by the instability of arc itself. As a result, the calculation based on this new idea can explain why the arc duration distributes. Comparison of the calculated arc duration and the measured arc duration supports the calculation method based on this new idea. |
