Abstract(in English) This paper presents robustness evaluation of a modulation identification (MOD ID) method for digital M-ary phase-shift keying using the minimum Hellinger distance (MHD). We consider the case of perfect synchronization and perfect knowledge of the energy per symbol to noise power density ratio (Es/No), and the case of non-perfect synchronization and estimation of the Es/No under additive white Gaussian channel. When compared with the maximum likelihood (ML) method, the MHD has two significant advantages, low complexity and robustness against perturbations. We compare the performance of the MOD ID algorithms using the MHD against the performance of the ML method. Several significant results indicate that the MHD method not only has lower complexity but its performance is close to the ML method, i.e., the difference of performance in terms of Es/No is less than 1dB when the average MOD ID error rate is 10^<-3>. It is also found that the MHD method is more robust than the ML method against the Es/No estimation errors, especially in the case of positive Es/NO error. We also present an statistical analysis in terms of mean and variance of the decision variable consisting of the Hellinger distance.
