A Study on Improvement in Noise Estimation Accuracy of Noise Reconstruction System with Step Size Control

Abstract(in English) A noise reduction method is proposed to reduce background noise in noisy speech. We have proposed the noise reconstruction method using a linear prediction error filter (LPEF) and a noise reconstruction filter (NRF). A speech signal is known as the stationary signal in short time interval, so most of the speech signal can be predicted with the linear predictor. On the other hand, assuming that the background noise is generated by exciting a linear system with a white signal, the noise signal becomes the white signal by the LPEF. Therefore, the background noise can be reconstructed from the white noise by estimating the noise generating system. This estimation is performed by the NRF used as system identification. However, since a residual speech is included in the input signal of NRF, small step size for updating the coefficients of the NRF is needed not to estimate the speech signal. Therefore, it is difficult for NRF to track the non-stationary noise. In order to solve the problem, the noise reconstruction method using the step size control is proposed.
