Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Recently, interoperability between heterogeneous mobile networks, such as 3rd generation (3G) cellular systems and wireless local area networks (WLAN), has been developed. This paper proposes a cooperative network control mechanism for heterogeneous mobile networks. This mechanism is based on infrastructure multihop architectures, where mobile stations (MSs) can send data to base stations via other mobile stations. By setting path selection rules to MSs, the whole network is controlled. One of the objectives of this paper is designing path selection rules to achieve "networking policy" -coverage expansion, link stabilization, and load balancing. The proposed mechanism is evaluated through computer simulations for 3G-WLAN integrated networks. The results verify that some networking rules we design achieve their networking policies.
