Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) It is getting harder to get rid of all of bugs, especially resource leaks, from J2EE applications. Resource leak causes J2EE application crash, after long run. Periodical reboot of application prevents this problem. But this technique causes planned downtime of service or performance degradation. Application consists of several software components. Only a few components within an application leak resources. In this paper, we propose a technique called microreplacement, which only replaces resource leaking components with the same and newly created components. This technique prevents application crash without planned downtime and with almost no performance degradation. We also propose dependable J2EE application server, which is a J2EE application server equipped with microreplacement technique.
