Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) This paper describes a user interface of the electronic book viewer ergonomically designed for people with motor disabilities. The present viewers are not necessarily usable for such people, due to time-consuming operations and difficulty in the pointer positioning. In order to eliminate such difficulties, we developed a universally designed tab-board as a user interface of the viewer, which has a tag-based hierarchical structure of functions. In an attempt to verify its usability, we carried out comparative experiments using both the tab-board and a conventional menu-bar interface. Results demonstrated that the tab board was better than the menu bar in the respects of the number of operations, the time of operations, the time of perception-cognition and the number of erroneous operations, suggesting its high usability as a user interface of the viewer.
