Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Persons with deafblindness have several difficulties in communication, receiving and sending information, moving, and other activities of daily living. Their communications tend to be passive, depending on what is interpreted by their interpreter. It seems that by adding some kind of activation factor to their communication, it will become more dynamic and active. We set up a hypothesis in which the giving of a simple vibration corresponds to ambient sound to a deaf-blind person during the communication. They will then be able to know that something is happening prior to the interpretation and question about it actively. This may make their communication more active. In this paper, we describe our fundamental study on this hypothesis and the prototype of the experimental apparatus.
