Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) 3D video, which is generated from multi-viewpoint images, has been attracting increased attention because it can record and reproduce high-accuracy 3D information of the real-world objects. One of the most important issues in managing a large database of 3D video archives is efficient retrieval for browsing, reusing, processing, and so on. Prior to retrieval systems, one has to solve the fundamental problem of temporal devision of 3D videos into meaningful and manageable segments. In this paper, we have developed an effective segmentation algorithm using histogram-based feature vector representation. The segmentation algorithm developed in this paper has been applied to three different 3D video sequences, and high recall and precision rates of 0.84 and 0.80, respectively, have been achieved.
