Investigation of 10Gb/s direct modulation in 1.3-μm InGaAlAs-MQW-FP lasers

Abstract(in English) Demands for highly efficient and large capacity transmission have arisen with the explosive growth of Internet/intranet traffic. A 1.3- μm InGaAlAs-MQW ridge-waveguide laser is good candidate for light source of transmission between large capacity rooters and long-haul optical networks. In this paper, it was experimentally demonstrated that the laser parameters concerning to high-speed modulation in InGaAlAs laser are superior as compared with those in conventional InGaAsP lasers. Moreover, 10Gb/s operation with wide temperature range from -10℃ to 85℃ was achieved under practical modulation condition in the InGaAlAs lasers. It was also demonstrated the parallel transmission module using this type of lasers.
