Abstract(in English) We proposed multi-mode interference photonic switches with partial index-modulation regions (MIPS-P) as a multi-port type optical switch, and switching characteristics of 3x3 and 4x4 MIPS-Ps have been analyzed. Two types of MIPS-Ps with current-confinement structures have also been investigated in order to improve the switching characteristic. In this paper, we show the analytical results of the switching characteristics of 4x4 non-blocking optical switch with seven-staged 2x2 MIPS-Ps using wide-angle finite-difference beam propagation method (WA-FD-BPM).
