Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) To install cost-effective ring network in the metropolitan area network, which each network capacity demand for each building such as user building is much various, we proposed a parallel architecture, which install two transmission equipments to 2-fibers with the WDM coupler. It is advantageous in terms of the effective use of optical fiber and wavelength. Based on it, we designed and manufactured the WDM coupler prototype and the distribution cabinet to install it, and obtained good level of performance. This architecture was adopted in Tsukuba WAN, which is ultra-high-speed network (Max. 570Gbit/s) for connecting supercomputers.
