Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) It is observed that the concepts of object-oriented programming are not easy to comprehend for those exposed to programming first time. The authors confirmed this fact by simple experiments at the University of Toledo. In this paper, the authors argue that it is better to employ structured programming for programming education before object-oriented programming. By doing so, the students can grasp the general ideas about computer organization as well as can get used to programming itself. The authors recommend that C++ is a good vehicle to convey structured programming concepts with pro and cons of the programming language and some comparison to the Java programming language.
