Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) This paper proposes a method of tracking head pose by a fisheye camera based upon spherical camera model. A usual camera has only limited FOV (field of view); the old feature points often disappear from the FOV and the new ones appear in the FOV due to the camera motion. The error accumulation may occur when we use the motion from partial observation to estimate the locus of a period of time. To cope with this problem, we use a fisheye camera to observe the markers on the ceiling and then estimate the fisheye camera motion. Since a fisheye camera has an almost hemispherical FOV the markers always appear in the FOV as long as the rotation angle of pitch and roll is less than 90 degrees. First, we use a spherical camera model to represent the visual points of the surrounding markers equally; then we estimate the camera motion based upon the Extended Kalman Filter framework. The experimental results in a real world show the effectiveness of our proposed method.
