Wide-band front-end of SDR terminal : A study for Automatic gain control

Abstract(in English) SDR architecture has been attract attention as a one of way to realize the mobile terminals corresponding to two or more wireless systems and broadcasting systems with different frequency and modulation method. Also, the architecture attracts attention as way to up efficiency of frequency usage, For that architecture that enhances SDR such as Agile radio and Cognitive radio is proposed. In this paper, requirement analysis to the front end of SDR mobile terminal in beginning, then study suitable front-end architecture realizing SDR mobile terminals, and pick out the problem of it. As a result, this report is shown that a wide dynamic rage and low distortion are required in the analog part of wideband front-end where with the digital signal processing part in the reception front-end. Automatic gain control to use dynamic range effectively causes the interference between the reception signals of two or more by the distortion in the signals of front-end. Then, this report is shown problems in conventional automatic gain control, and studies basic of automatic gain control that suppress the performance degradation in minimum by low distortion algorithm with using the limited dynamic rage maximum.
