Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) To maintain a good road surface condition in case of road management to secure the safe and smooth traffic in snow cold district is made an important problem. Then the realization of the road surface recognition sensor to grasp a road surface condition correctly and real-time is wanted. This time, we propose a new sensor to recognize a road surface condition by the image processing of electronic flash light which is reflected at the road surface. By the adoption of the optical system which used polarizing characteristic and the differential image processing to remove a influence of the sun light, it confirmed in the field that this sensor was possible to recognize the road surface condition irrespective of day and night and the weather.
