Low-input-power and low-injection-current SOA-PLC hybrid integrated wavelength converter

Abstract(in English) We assembled an array of semiconductor optical amplifier integrated with spot-size converters (SS-SOA) and planar lightwave circuit (PLC) platform for the cross-phase modulation (XPM) wavelength converter. To realize the operation with low input power and low injection currents to SOAs, we focused on the optimal current for the phase control, I_, so as to the eye opening is improved. As a result, we successfully achieved -10 dBm signal input power and -10 dBm CW power operation at 10 Gb/s without a signal preamplifier. In addition, we fabricated 8-slot unit and confirmed the stable low power operation in all slots.
