Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) A novel method for controlling pattern effect is proposed for all-optical delayed-interferometer switch using semiconductor optical amplifier (SOA). With the conventional pattern effect suppression method using an assist light at transparent wavelength of the SOA, the output waveform suffers from distortion. By a numerical analysis, it was found that the reduction of pattern effect and waveform distortion was achieved simultaneously by shifting the wavelength of the assist light to longer side. It was also found that there was a trade-off between pattern effect and waveform distortion.
