Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Ag-As_2Se_3 (i.e., Ag_x(As_<0.4>Se_<0.6>)_<100-x>) strip-loaded waveguides were fabricated by use of a conventional lift-off method and photodoping technique. The waveguide was composed of an Ag-As_2Se_3 guiding layer and As_2Se_3 loading strip. The addition of Ag into the As_2Se_3 film increases its optical nonlinearity, and Ag-As_2Se_3 glass seems to be a promising material for all-optical devices. At a wavelength of 1.053μm, single-mode propagation was confirmed from the near field pattern imaged with an infrared vidicon camera. The propagation loss was estimated by scattered light measurements to be ~0.5dB/cm at 1.053μm.
