Preparation of Planar Multimode Device with Graded-Index Profile using Polysilane with photobreaching properties

Abstract(in English) To investigate the viability for planar graded-index multimode waveguide fabricated by means of a new method using polysilane with photobreaching properties, we designed a planar 2-way multimode power splitter based on multimode interference, of which core has a vertically parabolic- and horizontally uniform-index profile, with a mode propagation analysis using Marcatili model and an optimization using a three dimentional beam propagation method and fabricated a prototype by means of multiple-dicing after UV exposure and heat treatment in the air. An index profile measurement using special end-face reflection method showed it had a vertically graded (parabolic)-index profile with 0.0456 relative index difference and an output beam profile observation using CCD camera showed it divided beam in a plane successfully.
