Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In this paper, the influence of the loudness of a target signal on the auditory search asymmetry between pure tone and narrow band noise was examined. The loudness of the target sound was varied among 2, 4, or 6 sone_G while that of each single distracter was kept at 4 sone_G. In all cases, the reaction time required to detect a narrow band noise among distracting pure tones was less dependent on the number of components than that to detect a pure tone among narrow band noises. However, when the loudness of the target was smaller than distracters, values of d' for narrow band noise decreased with the number of components. These results indicate that detection of some specific auditory features in narrow band noises would become poor when the loudness of the target is smaller than that of the distracter.
