Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In the image processing, such as feature extraction or evaluation for the object recognition, it is necessary to supply local image data from the frame memory to the arithmetic-unit arrays, in parallel manner with some 2D mapping. Instead of simple data buffer structure which was used in the previous architecture, we propose a new multi-port functional buffer structure, which is combined with non-blocking multi-stage connection network. And, they make up an effective data-supplying subsystem for the larger system-performance margin and the lower power consumption by reducing the frequency of data access to the frame memory. The structure, the behavior and the effects of the new functional buffer will be described. The characteristics of two non-blocking dynamic-recofigurable connection networks, Benes network and Clos network, are also compared, and the total performances are discussed.
