Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) IEEE802.11a 5GHz wireless LAN systems are becoming popular as well as IEEE802.11b 2.4GHz ones, and high rate wireless LANs as access communication schemes to wired networks show increasing interests recently. In this report, wireless transmission schemes of broadband wireless LANs, which utilize microwave-band and enable higher rate wireless communication, are discussed. First, requirements of broadband wireless LANs are described. Second, conventional wireless techniques are qualitatively evaluated. Last, a broadband TDMA/FDD scheme with MC-CDM, which is one of the extracted schemes from the previous qualitative evaluation, is quantitatively evaluated on the cell capacity. It is shown that broadband systems improve the cell capacity of wireless LANs under single-cell and multi-cell environments.
